From Associated Press

Scotty Bowman was less excited about coaching his record-setting 1,607th NHL game Friday night than he was about his team’s last-minute victory over the Dallas Stars at Dallas.

Tim Taylor scored off a deflection with 26.6 seconds remaining to give Detroit a 2-1 victory as Bowman passed Al Arbour as the league’s longest serving coach.

Bowman, also the career leader in victories in his 24th season, improved his record to 939-428-240 and his .659 regular-season winning percentage is the best of anyone who has coached at least 600 games.
