Villa Park, Junior
Basketball/Center
Villa Park’s final two opponents in the Century tournament tried opposite strategies to stop the Spartans; neither worked. Cypress mostly let Chenowith do what he wanted and the 7-foot center scored 35 points, making 13 of 17 shots, in a 57-52 semifinal victory. El Toro double- and triple-teamed Chenowith, but he had seven assists, 16 points and 11 rebounds in the Spartans’ 66-49 title-game victory. “When we were going over the stats,” Coach Kevin Reynolds said, “his first question was, ‘How many assists did I have tonight?’ He was pretty excited.”
