Reviews Planned on School Boundaries

Share

Simi Valley parents interested in changes proposed for the junior high school attendance boundaries can review the plans at a series of informational meetings next week.

The meetings, scheduled Monday and Tuesday evenings, will give parents a chance to comment on the proposed boundaries for Sinaloa, Valley View and Hillside junior highs. The changes are part of the district’s effort to turn Sequoia Junior High School into a magnet high school for technology and the performing arts.

The proposed boundaries, which would take effect before the next school year, are still subject to change. At a meeting Tuesday, the district board tentatively altered one of the boundaries, sending some students who would have attended Sinaloa to Valley View instead.

The board must approve the boundaries before they take effect.

Two of the meetings will be held Monday--one starting at 6:30 p.m. at Sinaloa, the other at 7 p.m. at Valley View. The third meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hillside. Those attending the meetings will also receive information about each school.
