South Bay : CANDLELIGHT VIGIL

Share

A candlelight vigil in memory of a slain Redondo Beach woman will be held Friday at 4:30 p.m. in Redondo Beach.

Madolyn Smink, 51, was discovered dead in the trunk of her car Dec. 19. Police have not released any information about their investigation. They have not announced a cause of death.

The vigil, to be held at Glenn Anderson Park, was organized by Citizens Against Crime, a Redondo Beach-based group that works to help prevent crime by raising awareness and increasing citizen involvement. “The candlelight vigil is, obviously, in memory of Madolyn, but it is also a time that a community comes together to discuss their concerns and what we need to do,” said Robe Richester, co-founder of Citizens Against Crime. “This . . . hopefully is going to be part of a healing process.”

The Smink family has offered a $5,000 reward for information that will help police solve the murder. Donations may be sent to the Madolyn Smink Reward Fund, Home Savings of America, 1800 N. Sepulveda Blvd. Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
