Americans Told to Avoid Downtown Mexico City

WASHINGTON —
The State Department said Thursday that Americans visiting Mexico should avoid downtown Mexico City this weekend because of the possibility of street violence.
The department said city authorities have declared their intention to remove unlicensed vendors from city streets.
It said previous eviction efforts have led to violence.
