Pilot Killed in Crash of Experimental Plane

EL CAJON — A small experimental plane crashed Sunday on the deserted field of a junior high school here, killing the pilot as it erupted in flames, officials said.
The aircraft crashed at 8:30 a.m. on an athletic field at Hillsdale Middle School, said Carol Hale, spokeswoman for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
The name of the pilot was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
