Late Stockton Shot Defeats Heat, 94-92

John Stockton made a 20-foot jump shot at the buzzer Monday night, giving the Utah Jazz a 94-92 victory over the Miami Heat at Salt Lake City.

Stockton, who scored 27 points, tied the game with a three-point basket with 16 seconds remaining.

Karl Malone scored 32 points for Utah. He made 15 of a career-high 28 foul shots.

Alonzo Mourning led the Heat with 22 points, but was four for 17 from the foul line.

Cleveland 109, Washington 91--Bobby Phills scored 25 points at Cleveland, and the Cavaliers shot 59% for the second consecutive game to defeat the injury plagued Bullets.

Chris Mills and Terrell Brandon each scored 23 for the Cavaliers, winners of six of their last seven games.

The Bullets had eight players, with Robert Pack and Chris Webber among those who were sidelined.
