. . . The Newporter Resort hotel in Newport Beach announced a $15-million renovation prompted by competition from the nearby Ritz-Carlton and the soon-to-be-opened Four Seasons Hotel.
Hotel industry analysts predicted that by the end of the decade, Orange County would rival Santa Barbara and Palm Springs as a major resort destination.
