Jim Walker, president of Moorpark College, has been selected by his colleagues to represent the region’s community colleges on a statewide board that addresses education policy issues before the Legislature and the state Board of Governors.

As a member of the nonprofit board of directors for the Chief Executive Officers of the California Community Colleges, Walker joins 12 community college leaders from across the state who provide policy direction at the state level.

Walker has served as president of Moorpark College since 1992 and acted as interim chancellor for the Ventura Community College District for the past year.

Philip Westin, the district’s new chancellor, said he is pleased the district will be represented at the leadership forum. “Dr. Walker’s efforts as president of Moorpark College and as interim chancellor have been recognized by his colleagues,” he said.

Walker was elected to the position by chancellors, superintendents and presidents at community colleges stretching from San Diego to San Luis Obispo counties.
