Dallas Cowboy quarterback Troy Aikman faces possible elbow surgery after the Super Bowl and will not play in the Pro Bowl, scheduled for Feb. 4 in Hawaii, the team said Saturday.

“This is something that, in no way, has hindered my ability to throw the football,” Aikman said.

“It is, however, an injury that causes me discomfort and pain. It’s something I want to address after the season, and I don’t want to run the risk of making the situation worse.”

The Cowboys released their injury report after morning workouts. Defensive end Charles Haley, who underwent back surgery several weeks ago, is listed as questionable.

Listed as probable are Aikman, with a sore right elbow and two sore knees, and 14 other players, including running back Emmitt Smith, who has a sore right calf.

A beer war brewing since Arizona was awarded the Super Bowl three years ago is coming to a head.

Arizona liquor laws shut off the tap at 1 a.m.

Cowboy owner Jerry Jones insists that a way must be found for his players to enjoy their usual postgame booze.

“I don’t think we’re going to be able to accommodate them,” said Bill Shover, chairman of the state’s Super Bowl Host Committee. “I think it would change the carriage of this community, and I don’t think you want to do that for a football game.”

Flood waters poured into Three Rivers Stadium, forcing the Pittsburgh Steelers to hurriedly pack up gear for their trip to the Super Bowl. As the flooding Ohio River began spilling into Three Rivers Stadium’s parking lots and lower levels, Steeler equipment manager Tony Parisi’s staff arrived at 6 a.m. and hastily packed up uniforms and equipment. The flood won’t affect the Steelers’ routine, as only a light running session is planned before the team’s chartered plane departs Monday.
