Long-Term Leases for Mobile Homes Ended

New Ventura County mobile home park tenants can no longer be required to sign a lease longer than a year that would, in the process, exempt them from rent control protection.

County supervisors passed an ordinance Tuesday prohibiting mobile home park owners from requiring such long-term arrangements.

The new rule closes a loophole in state law and is designed to ensure that park owners do not take financial advantage of would-be tenants, officials said.

Park owners had opposed the ordinance at earlier hearings, but were not present Tuesday.
