$6-Million Library Plans to Be Unveiled
Residents can get a firsthand look at plans for the new city library at 7 tonight at City Hall, 25909 Pala.
A scale model of the proposed $6-million building will be on display. Several city officials, library task force members and the project architect will be available to answer questions.
“It will give people an opportunity to see what the library is all about and ask questions,” said Mayor Sherri M. Butterfield, who has been a major force in the drive to build a new library.
In addition, those visiting the display can see a presentation of the Creative Learning Plaza, a multimedia learning center proposed by City Councilman Joseph D. Lowe.
Officials of the Rancho Bernardo-based Creative Learning Plaza run a chain of similar learning centers in the state.
Final design plans for the proposed 26,600-square-foot library are being developed. The city hopes to start construction by the end of 1996.
Besides passing out information about the library, officials also will accept donations for the building.
