Byce’s Hat Trick Leads Ice Dogs

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Ice Dogs overcame a three-goal deficit in the third period to beat the Detroit Vipers, 6-5, in an International Hockey League shootout Saturday night.
John Byce had a hat trick for the Ice Dogs, including the game-tying goal with 49 seconds left.
The Ice Dogs made all four of their shots during the shootout; the Vipers made only two.
Goaltender Kay Whitmore, on loan from Detroit, posted his second victory in as many nights, stopping 34 of 39 shots.
