Clinic to Vaccinate Dogs, Cats for Rabies

Share

Dogs and cats can be vaccinated against rabies for $4 cash at a clinic that will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 8 at Berylwood Park in Simi Valley.

The low-cost rabies vaccination clinic is sponsored by the Ventura County Department of Animal Regulation and the Ventura County Veterinary Medical Assn.

All dogs and cats older than 4 months are required by state and county ordinance to be vaccinated against rabies. Dogs older than 4 months must also be licensed. In Moorpark, cats must also be licensed.

Licenses may be purchased at the clinic at the regular price. Cost is $10 for dogs that have been spayed or neutered and $30 for those that have not. Written proof of spaying or neutering must be presented with the license application at the time of purchase.

Licenses are required within 30 days of: acquiring a new dog; moving to Ventura County; the dog reaching 4 months of age, or the date on which the previous license expired. Failure to do so will result in a penalty of 100% of the license fee.
