Woman Grazed by Stray Bullet Fired a Mile Away

A woman suffered minor injuries Friday night when she was grazed in the back by a stray bullet fired from nearly a mile away, police said Saturday.

The woman, whose name was not released, suffered only a superficial scratch on her back, said Sgt. Ed Bish.

“She was fine. She was treated and released right there,” Bish said.

Police believe the shot came from a gun fired by Juan T. Borja, 30, of Cypress, who was arrested after several neighbors called 911 to report hearing gunfire in Borja’s backyard, officials said.

Borja was booked into custody for discharging a weapon in a grossly negligent manner and was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
