CBS has once again pulled the quirky Gary Cole series “American Gothic” off its schedule but says that the show will return at some point in the future. In 11 outings (originally on Fridays, more recently on Wednesdays), the show averaged only a 12% share of the available viewing audience, and was tied for 84th among 119 network series. . . . Spinal Tap, the three-man rock band from Rob Reiner’s 1984 cult film, “This Is Spinal Tap,” will perform at the Century Plaza Hotel on March 11 at an ACLU dinner honoring Reiner. . . . “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer has been named host of the second annual Blockbuster Entertainment Awards, airing March 6 on UPN. . . . Mitzi Gaynor and Juliet Prowse will be honored with Professional Dance Society Gypsy Awards on Sunday at the Century Plaza Hotel. The event will also include a tribute to the late Gene Kelly. . . . Doug Llewelyn, best known as the reporter on TV’s “The People’s Court,” is the new anchor of the Sunday, 2-5 p.m. midday shift on K-NEWS radio (AM 540 and FM 1260). . . . Clark Kent heads to the altar with Lois Lane on this weekend’s edition of ABC’s “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.” But DC Comics reveals that the star-crossed couple will end their 58-year comic book courtship in its Valentine’s Day “Superman” edition. After the breakup, Lois catches the eye of another superhero, Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spiderman.
