Central Los Angeles : 25,000 Expected to Attend Fair for Women, Families

More than 25,000 people are expected to attend the 10th annual Feria de Mujer, a fair geared to women, at the Los Angeles Convention Center this weekend.

“It’s the only fair of its kind,” said Oralia Michel, an event spokeswoman. “It is targeted at women and families who want to enjoy a mix of activities--food booths, make-overs, citizenship workshops and kiddie rides. There’s something for everyone.”

The fair Sunday will feature activities including information booths, cooking demonstrations, fashion shows, giveaways and coin-operated children’s rides.

The free event will also feature an “Outstanding Woman of the Year” ceremony and a lip-sync contest for high school students.

The fair, sponsored by radio stations KLVE-FM 107.5 and TenQ-AM 1020, will be held at the South Exhibit Hall K from noon to 5:30 p.m. Information: (213) 741-1151. . . .
