Home Streak Ends When Rangers Fall

After four months and 24 games, the New York Rangers lost at Madison Square Garden, falling to the New York Islanders on Thursday night, 5-3. The Rangers had gone 18-0-6 at home since Oct. 22 to tie a club record set in 1970-71.

The Islanders, owners of the third-worst record in the NHL, were led by Marty McInnis, who had two goals and an assist, and goalie Tommy Soderstrom, who made 33 saves.

Four teams have had better home-ice streaks than the Rangers, including the Montreal Canadiens, who won a record 34 in a row in 1976-77.
