Man Dies After Hit-and-Run Accident
A man died Friday night when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver and dragged for half a mile.
A police spokesman said the unidentified victim was found in the gutter at the intersection of Westminster Avenue and Brookhurst Street. Horrified witnesses saw the victim get hit near Kerry Street and Westminster by a compact red car, police said.
The driver did not stop and dragged the man until he became disentangled at Westminster and Brookhurst. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, a police spokesman said.
The car, which had damage to the front end, was last seen speeding south on Brookhurst.
