Residents to Get Tips on Reducing Trash

Share

Moorpark residents should be getting free information in the mail about how to reduce the amount of trash they throw out every day.

The information will include details on a new plan to recycle yard waste, which makes up almost one-third of all waste sent to landfills.

Starting Monday, residents throughout the city will be able to recycle yard waste at no extra cost. Residents are asked to separate yard waste--such as grass, leaves, plant trimmings, horse manure and unstained wood--from their regular loads of trash and drop it in a can of its own. Residents should be receiving decals to use in identifying which cans will hold their yard waste.

The trash haulers will pick up the yard waste on their regular pickup days, and the material will be mulched or composted.

Moorpark also has a limited supply of compost bins available for sale.
