Another Santa Anita turf race, another victory for trainer Bobby Frankel.

Tychonic’s half-length victory over Debutant Trick in the $159,400 Arcadia Handicap on Sunday was the 10th from 22 grass starters for Frankel through the first 51 days of the meeting.

Much improved since Gary Stevens became his regular rider, Tychonic has won four in a row and six of his last eight.

The 2-1 second choice in the one-mile race, the 6-year-old Last Tycoon horse stayed just off the pace set by 17-10 favorite Romarin most of the way, got the lead in midstretch and went on to win in 1:35 2/5.

Debutant Trick, a 5-1 shot, finished two lengths ahead of Silver Wizard and left trainer Gary Jones wondering what might have been had his horse not had to spot Tychonic a pound (117-116).

Romarin, who had won three of his five previous starts on the Santa Anita turf course, faded to sixth.
