GOP Presidential Debate Is Planned at Reagan Library

SIMI VALLEY — The presidential campaign that has been playing itself out in far-off states is finally coming to Ventura County this month, when the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum will host a televised debate of all remaining Republican hopefuls.
Invitations to all the GOP candidates have been sent out, said Lynda Schuler, a spokeswoman for the library.
The debate has been scheduled for March 24, just two days before California’s primary election. It is the first time the library has hosted a presidential debate, Schuler said.
“We thought that with an earlier California primary, this would be a perfect opportunity for voters to see their candidates,” she said.
The debate will be televised live on CNN starting at 7 p.m., with the California Republican Party coordinating the event.
It will be moderated by CNN anchor Bernard Shaw. Candidates will field questions from a panel that will include ABC newsman Sam Donaldson and Los Angeles Times chief Washington correspondent Jack Nelson.
