CLINTON VISIT: President Clinton will be back...

CLINTON VISIT: President Clinton will be back in the Valley on Friday. He’ll swing by Harman International in Northridge as part of a “corporate good citizen” tour. Clinton plans to praise the maker of audio equipment for avoiding layoffs and keeping benefits intact during tight times. . . . Why Harman? Well, it can’t hurt that the wife of founder and chairman Sidney Harman is Rep. Jane Harman (D-Rolling Hills), a big Clinton supporter.

VALLEY PARKING: The Valley was built with cars in mind, so it’s rarely tough to find a parking space. Of the 2.7 million parking tickets issued annually in Los Angeles, just 14%--or 370,000--are written up in the Valley. . . . And although only 1% of those are ever challenged, City Councilman Hal Bernson convinced his colleagues to open a Valley office for local folks to fight their tickets (B1). Now, a day in court requires a trip to Century City.

GEE, THANKS: The $300-million Gateway Plaza downtown was renamed the Patsaouras Transit Plaza, in honor Metropolitan Transportation Authority alternate board member Nick Patsaouras of Tarzana. “He deserves this recognition,” said City Councilman and MTA board member Richard Alatorre. . . . Among the features of the publicly funded project: a 7,000-gallon aquarium.
