Affirmative Action Forum Debate Topic

Share

With affirmative action under increasing attack, about 200 business leaders, professors and university students will gather today at Cal Lutheran University to debate the program’s future.

The discussion, which begins at 5 p.m., is part of the school’s 26th annual Mathews Management Forum, an effort to build connections between Cal Lutheran students and faculty and the local business community.

Each year, the forum focuses on a different business-related topic. Those attending are separated into groups of about 10 people who then debate the issue.

“It’s a networking time for the students, plus it’s a time for the faculty members to get to know members of the local business community and allow business people to get to know what we’re all about,” said university spokeswoman Lynda Fulford.

The keynote address will be delivered by Edward G. Garnett, vice president of human resources at biotechnology giant Amgen.

Registration for the forum is available until noon today. Admission is $25, which includes dinner. For more information, call 493-3151.
