Westside : MARINA DREDGING
The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors has agreed to contribute $525,000 for the dredging of the Marina del Rey entrance channel, the waterway that leads from the marina to the ocean.
The project is expected to cost $1.25 million, with the rest of the money coming from the Army Corps of Engineers.
The entrance channel is choked with sediment, making it too shallow in some spots for boats. The dredging must be completed by April 15, the beginning of the nesting season for the least tern, an endangered bird that breeds and forages nearby.
