South Bay : MORE OF THE SAME
Results from Tuesday’s election show that all three Torrance City Council members will keep their seats.
George Nakano received 27.5% or 8,796 votes, Don Lee got 23.3% and Maureen O’Donnell came in third with 21.5%. Challengers Bill Applegate came in fourth, with 19.1%, followed by Joe Quinones, with 8.5%. Write-in candidate Paul A. Gensheimer had 56 votes. Each voter cast ballots for as many as three candidates.
Voter turnout was relatively low, with 16.8% of the city’s 70,099 registered voters showing up at the polls.
“I felt confident that we [the incumbents] would get elected,” Nakano said. “Any problems the city has had, we’ve addressed.” This is Nakano’s fourth and last term.
