J.R. Phillips and Mel Hall homered in a four-run sixth inning against Makato Suzuki as the San Francisco Giants beat the Seattle Mariners, 6-3.
Suzuki, 20, disappointed a large contingent of media from his native Japan by failing to hold a 2-1 lead and not retiring a batter in the sixth. He gave up four runs and three hits and walked three.
