DEATH PENALTY: The county district attorney’s office will seek the death penalty against all six men charged in the execution-style killing of five people, including two children, in an El Monte home last year, authorities said.
A committee in the prosecutor’s office, which determines whether to seek capital punishment in murder with special circumstances cases, made the decision to seek the multiple death sentences, said Sandi Gibbons, district attorney’s spokeswoman.
Luis Maciel, 26, and Jose Ortiz, 29, were indicted on five counts of murder after a grand jury hearing in December, the prosecutor’s office said.
In September, Richard Anthony Valdez, 22, Anthony Torres, 29, and Jimmy Palma, 21, all of San Gabriel, and Daniel Logan, 19, of Pasadena were indicted for murder, officials said.
