PROFESSOR HONORED: A Los Angeles City College professor was one of four community college teachers in California honored this week as outstanding educators of the year.
Theater arts director Fred Fate, 46, received the Hayward Award for Excellence in Education, which is given to junior college teachers demonstrating the highest level of commitment to their students, colleges and profession.
Fate, who began teaching at the college in 1982, directs the school plays and teaches a “Movement for the Actor” class in which he demonstrates stage fighting techniques.
