An 80-year-old woman who was struck by a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus Thursday at an Alhambra intersection died during surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
The pedestrian was hit as she was walking across south 5th Street at west Valley Boulevard about 8:30 a.m., said Sgt. Tim Lynskey of the Alhambra Police Department.
"She stepped off the curb into the path of the bus that was unable to stop in time," said Andrea Greene, an MTA spokeswoman. The bus, carrying 70 passengers, left 20 feet of skid marks, Greene said.
