Vacaville Stepfather Chases Off Intruder Attempting to Kidnap 6-Year-Old Girl
A Vacaville man thwarted an attempted kidnapping of his 6-year-old stepdaughter from her bedroom, chasing the assailant through neighborhood yards before he escaped.
The intruder apparently entered the home through an unlocked sliding-glass door just before 4 a.m. Thursday, Police Sgt. Gene Horst said. The man molested the girl and was trying to take her away when her stepfather tried to enter the room to see why her door had been closed, Horst said.
The stepfather said that when he entered the room, a man hit him and fled. He followed the intruder into the street, but couldn’t catch him.
Horst said that after the intruder molested the girl, he lifted her off the bed, told her he was her “daddy” and said he was going to take her for a walk. The stepfather said the girl calmly told the man he was not her daddy and that it was too early to get up, Horst said.
