Salmon Going to School

WASHINGTON —
The government will buy Alaskan pink salmon for school lunches and other food aid in an effort to boost the flagging industry, Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman said Friday. Glickman said the department is taking steps because a record 1995 harvest has created record surpluses of canned salmon, with harvests this year also expected to be high.
