His crypt, located next to that of his wife, Gracie Allen, is in the same row of the cemetery’s Freedom Hall Mausoleum as actresses Clara Bow and Jeanette MacDonald and singer Nat King Cole. . . . Also buried nearby: Larry Fine of the Three Stooges, and Chico and Gummo Marx.

QUAKE LOANS: Time is running out to apply for earthquake repair loans from the city of Los Angeles. Property owners who suffered damage in the 1994 Northridge quake have until March 30 to ask for low-interest loans from the city Housing Department. MCA DEPARTURE: Tom Pollack, above, who shepherded films ranging from “Jurassic Park” and “Schindler’s List” to “Waterworld,” resigned as vice chairman of MCA Inc. Tuesday (D2). Pollack, who joined the company in 1986, helped MCA’s transition to new ownership last year. “It’s very amicable, and not unexpected for me,” he said. “I was not forced out in any way.”

STOCKING UP: Blue-chip stocks continued their wild gyrations Tuesday, falling sharply, then rebounding as the trading day ended and actually posting a small gain (D1). Most local stocks went along for the ride. But the initial offering of Calabasas-based Xylan only went up. . . . The high-tech company sold 5.47 million shares (D1).
