AT&T; Gets Calls About Employees: The telecommunications company said it received hundreds of calls after placing full-page ads in 29 newspapers seeking jobs for workers it is laying off. The ads listed a toll-free line for prospective employers to request more information. The ads were designed to run as the end of work at AT&T; Corp. comes for about 2,000 managers who were told in mid-January that their jobs would be phased out after two months.
