A 22-year-old driver was ejected and killed Thursday after his Ford Thunderbird struck a van near Disneyland and flipped over, police said.
Francisco Javier Rodriguez of Anaheim suffered major head injuries in the 8:40 p.m. accident. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Investigators said Rodriguez was speeding and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. His car clipped a van that had just completed a U-turn from northbound to southbound Harbor Boulevard, south of Manchester Avenue.
A passenger in Rodriguez’s car was uninjured. The van’s driver--Mark Allen Risen, 45, of Corona--was also uninjured, as were his three passengers, police said.
The accident remains under investigation, and police ask anyone with information to call investigators Vince Delgado or Rick Alexander at (714) 254-1861.
