Fallout from the Wayne Gretzky trade has fallen right on Dale Hawerchuk.

With Gretzky, obtained last month from the Kings, in the lineup, the St. Louis Blues believe they have enough scoring and on Friday sent Hawerchuk, one of the all-time scoring centers, to the Philadelphia Flyers for center Craig MacTavish.

The deal also follows a pattern seen on the King roster during the Gretzky era in that MacTavish, the last of the league’s helmetless players, was with Gretzky on three Stanley Cup champions in Edmonton.

MacTavish, 37, scored five goals and had eight assists in 55 games this season.

Hawerchuk, 32, has 13 goals and 28 assists in 66 games.

“We feel we need more scoring in our lineup,” Flyer President Bob Clarke said. “Dale’s a player who has proven throughout his entire career that he is a premier offensive talent.”

The Flyers, in third place in the Atlantic Division, are in a 0-3-1 slump and have scored only five goals during that span.
