A View of Pierce College

Share

I recently read with dismay yet another article in The Times about the disintegrating conditions at Pierce College. Our daughter just received her AA [degree] from Pierce and found her educational experience to be outstanding. The vast majority of her instructors were knowledgeable professionals who were excited to be teaching and enthusiastic in their instruction. Classes were not easy, as standards of excellence were maintained, but she found the teachers to be fair, concerned and willing to go to great lengths to help conscientious students achieve.

Another asset that makes Pierce exceptional is the outstanding office staff. And, of course, one can hardly drive or walk through the campus without noticing the incredible natural beauty of the grounds.

With AA in hand and many wonderful experiences in her memory, our daughter has been accepted into a major university where she will continue her studies. The system has worked as it should for her. Despite the gloomy reports, the public should know that an exciting and excellent education is still available at Pierce, thanks to outstanding professionals who manage to maintain positive morale that triumphs over political and budgetary obstacles.

The newly chosen president, E. Bing Inocencio, may have his work cut out for him, but in my way of thinking, he has inherited a jewel of a community college.
