Virginia Firm to Buy Evans Rents: Cort Business Services Corp. said it agreed to buy the California rental furniture chain for about $27 million in cash. Privately held Evans, which had revenue of about $30 million in 1995, operates 17 rental showrooms and two warehouses in California. Fairfax, Va.-based Cort said the acquisition is expected to be completed in April. Cort provides rental furniture, accessories and related services. It operates 96 rental showrooms, 63 furniture clearance centers and 57 warehouses in 28 states and the District of Columbia.
