Police Seek Clues to Death of Newborn

Share

Police are seeking the public’s help in their investigation of the death of a newborn baby whose body was found in a trash bin behind a medical clinic this weekend.

The Orange County coroner’s office completed an autopsy of the infant Sunday, but detectives were not releasing any information about the child’s death, Santa Ana Sgt. Dick Faust said Sunday.

Detectives from the department’s child abuse unit are investigating the case as a possible homicide, Faust said.

Two passersby found the body of the baby boy in a large trash bin behind the Centro Medico 2000 clinic, at 812 W. 17th St., on Saturday morning. The child appeared to be a newborn, Faust said.

Nothing to help identify the infant was found near the scene. Anyone with information about the child or his parents is asked to call Detective Julio Jaramillo at (714) 647-5162.
