A Perris man on parole from prison for three rape convictions was arrested Tuesday after allegedly breaking into a woman’s apartment through a sliding glass door, police said.

Edward Ray Gentry, 34, is expected to be charged today with burglary, receiving stolen property and parole violation after police arrested him near the apartment in the 3200 block of East Yorba Linda Boulevard, Fullerton police officials said.

The resident of the apartment reported that she was talking on the telephone when she heard an intruder on the balcony of her second-floor unit, police said. After seeing the prowler enter her home, the woman screamed, frightening him away, then called the police, officials said.

Officers Gerry Sowards and Matt Wilkerson responded, officials said, and arrested Gentry nearby. Gentry, who police alleged had property from the apartment in his possession, was then identified by the woman as the prowler, police said.
