** 1/2 Lari White, “Don’t Fence Me In,” RCA. White flouts country convention almost as much as she flirts with it. While many of her own songs are standard issue, enough show signs of real thought to keep things interesting. She’s not a consistently striking singer, but occasionally musters a convincing, Bonnie Raitt-like bluesiness or Tammy Wynette ache.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
