BOOK CORNER

For its review of “Courtney Love: Queen of Noise,” an unauthorized biography by journalist Melissa Rossi that’s due in stores in May, Spin magazine has made an interesting choice for a writer: Courtney Love.

“We’ve asked her,” says Spin editor Craig Marks. “I don’t know if she wants to give the book publicity, but it would be fun to have an unauthorized book reviewed by the subject. It wouldn’t be so much a review as Courtney doing 100 words or so pointing out what she thoughtwere errors. Consider it a public proofreading.”

Meanwhile, Love and her representatives are reviewing the book themselves to see if they have any disputes with it prior to publication. Among the episodes featured in an advance galley are lots of tales of drug use (it says that she is subject to weekly drug tests on the set of the movie “The People vs. Larry Flynt,” in which she plays the late wife of the notorious publisher) and a chapter detailing her alleged obsessive pursuit of Trent Reznor not long after the death of her husband, Kurt Cobain.
