NEW YORK — A 39-year-old New York City man jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge and survived without injury, police said.
“It is very unusual to survive such a fall from that bridge. The man went into the East River feet first and was rescued by Harbor Patrol,” police spokeswoman Olga Mercado said after the incident Saturday.
Police identified the jumper as Frank Perillo from the borough of Staten Island. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. No cause was given for why he jumped off the bridge.
