Suspect Detained in Robbery at Store
A 37-year-old Ventura man was arrested Sunday night after he allegedly used a knife while trying to steal a beer from a local liquor store, a Ventura Police Department spokesman said.
Daniel William Hall went into Solari’s Liquor Store in the 2000 block of East Thompson Boulevard about 11 p.m. and grabbed a beer out of the store’s cooler, the department spokesman said.
When a clerk tried to stop him, Hall allegedly pulled out a lock-blade knife from his waistband, the spokesman said.
Soon after the incident, Hall was spotted by patrol officers a few blocks away, where he was arrested. He was wearing lipstick, according to police, and told investigators that “the devil [made] him do it.”
Hall was booked into the Ventura County Jail for armed robbery. His bail was set at $50,000.
