White House Seeks to Promote Corporate Citizenship: President Clinton’s economic advisors have tentatively scheduled a White House breakfast meeting with top corporate executives April 10 to kick off a campaign to promote “corporate citizenship.” The White House meeting will be followed later that day with a public conference at a Washington-area university where the administration will honor eight to 10 corporations it believes treat their employees fairly in an era of downsizing. The preliminary plans were discussed at a meeting at the National Economic Council. Clinton aides cautioned that planning is still in the early stage and that no final decisions have been made regarding which companies will be showcased.
