A 38-year-old Simi Valley man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of an invasion style robbery at a home Feb. 20, authorities said.

Kenneth Wayne Miller, who was found at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in a camper in the 6300 block of Alta Vista Road in Simi Valley, refused to surrender until the Simi Valley Police Department’s SWAT team used non-burning tear gas, police said.

An arrest warrant for Miller was issued March 20, police said.

Miller is suspected of confronting Jean LaFontaine, 36, of Simi Valley, at the front door of his home, police said. Miller and another suspect, who was not identified, pointed a hunting knife at LaFontaine, forcing their way into the house, police said.

LaFontaine was forced to lie on the dining room floor after one of the suspects took his wallet, police said. After robbing the home, the suspects fled in a white El Camino, police said.

Miller was booked into Ventura County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

An investigation is continuing.
