AUTOPSY RESULTS ON INFANT

Share

An autopsy on a baby that was found washed ashore in Malibu last week has revealed that the infant was a girl and had been in the water for several days, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.

The cause of death has not been determined and a pathology report is pending, said Deputy Gabe Ramirez. Detectives have been unable to identify the girl or discover where she came from, he said.

The dead infant was found Thursday by Malibu residents walking along the beach about 25 miles north of Santa Monica.

The autopsy indicated that the baby, estimated to be 1 year old, probably had respiratory problems caused by premature birth. The race has still not been determined.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the case to call sheriff’s homicide detectives at (213) 890-5500.
