Historical Building Review Underway
This city doesn’t have a lot of historical buildings, so it is determined to preserve those that have endured.
The Planning Commission this month began reviewing a list of 39 buildings that have potential historical value.
“There is a difference between being historic and just being old,” said Perry Valantine, the city’s planning director.
Buildings on the list were selected on the basis of both their age and whether they or their owners contributed significantly to the city’s development.
Valantine said planning commissioners will present their final list to the City Council so that policies can be drafted that will preserve the city’s heritage.
