City Welcoming Sign Campaign Nears End

Share

The city this month will wrap up its campaign to collect enough plastic to make 10 “Welcome to Fountain Valley” signs.

The goal is to collect 5.66 tons of peanut butter jars, soda bottles, detergent containers and milk jugs, which will be converted to plastic “lumber” that will be used to build the monument-style signs. The drive so far has collected about 5 tons.

City officials are encouraging residents to pitch in this week to help meet the goal. Containers that can be recycled for the project are those labeled “No. 1” or “No. 2” on the bottoms.

Containers may be deposited at the east parking lot at City Hall, 10200 Slater Ave., and at Albertsons, Lucky and Ralphs supermarkets. Information: (714) 965-4400.
