Florence Timmerhoff; Singer, Performing Arts Supporter

Florence Timmerhoff, 88, singer, teacher and supporter of the performing arts. A native of St. Louis, Timmerhoff performed there in such stage musicals as “Showboat” with W.C. Fields and in various roles with the St. Louis Grand Opera. A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, she toured the United States and Europe with the American Civic Light Opera Co. and for a time had a radio show in Mexico City, where she did graduate work. When she moved to Los Angeles, she founded the Music and Performing Arts Angels, which produced operas on radio and recognized such entertainers as Sammy Davis Jr. and Bob Hope for “glorifying God through the arts.” Timmerhoff was also active in promoting the Hollywood Opera Club, Film League, Hollywood Wilshire Symphony and the Easter Sunrise Service at the Hollywood Bowl, where she had planned to sing next week. On Monday in Los Angeles of cardiac arrest.
